Skatepark of Tampa’s annual pro competition kicked off Wednesday, and it includes a nice slate of concerts, starting with a Thursday night art show gig at The Bricks in Ybor City featuring skateboarding pioneer Ray Barbee who transitioned into a musician that plays a jazz-informed style of folky surf-punk.

Tampa Pro music moves to SPoT on Saturday with Thrasher-famous skate-punk band Bad Shit! plus Florida heavy-metal supergroup Heaven’s Gate and Santa Cruz hardvore hero Scowl, which was added just a day ago.

While Barbee’s gig as part of the Sean Cliver art show is free-to-attend, you’ll need a ticket for the Saturday show.

Ray Barbee and Chuck Treece play their free show at The Bricks on Friday, April 5 at 10 p.m.  while Heaven’s Gate, Scowl and Bad Shit! kick off Saturday night’s festivities at  SPoT at 8 p.m.
