There’ve always been love songs in Sam E Hues’ arsenal. His 2017 release Ghost I Remember Loving features interludes where the Tampa rapper is telling his mom about a really special lady.
“Her soul is quite beautiful… there’s something about her, I can’t explain it,” he said on the record.
In “waters” from Hues’ new album, Easy Tiger, he completely surrenders to the object of his affection, and now we have a visual.

Shot by Motion Minds at Indian Rocks Beach’s Scruggs Harbor, a new video for the Jxpvtty-produced track (stylized “JXPVTTY”) stars Hues alongside his longtime girlfriend and real-life inspiration, USF marketing student Macy Kober.
The two-and-a-half-minute clip captures the beauty of the Florida coastline and offers a glimpse into a romantic afternoon with the real-life couple.
“Love is in the air and there must be something in the water. Macy was the muse for the song, so it was only right she was the focus in the video,” Hues told CL in an email. “Random fact is Macy’s middle name is Sun, which is what inspired the [chorus] You’re my ‘Sun’ shine.”
Have a look at the clip below, and then see Hues live when he rocks Coppertail Brewing’s Tampa Bay Beer Week event (featuring Bronx-based hip-dop duo Camp Lo) on Thurs. March 12. If you’d like to visit Hues sooner, then see him when his Ybor City studio, Dojo Sounds, hosts a Saturday Galentine’s Day event, featuring DJ T. Couture, The Nervous Girls, Book Club, MAR and Trust Bucket.
