Summer is here, reunions are in the air. There's no denying it. And emo as a genre has benefited from it immensely. Tears in the Sahara was a local Tampa darling, and August 20th at the Brass Mug you'll have a chance to see this band reunited after ten years apart.Tears In the Sahara was briefly mentioned in our Music Issue, but what helps separate them from a lot of other bands from the time is their memorable energy and stage presence as well as some carefully crafted hooks and sexy synths. What, don't think that synths and keytars can be sexy? Well, Tears would say otherwise.
The brilliance of a reunion is that every time I've gone to see a reunion show, the artists have progressed and matured with better pitch, better timing, and better synergy. Nostalgia, of course, is another core component of any reunion show, it's what helps stoke the flames of intimacy between the performers and the audience after all. So for fans that are new and fans that are old, and folks looking to catch a killer show, this is a hard one to pass on. Guests include Altru, Empire Cinema, and Grand Lotus
Show starts at 9:00 pm, Brass Mug in Tampa, 1450 Skipper Rd, Tampa, Florida 33613 Door cover is $5.00 over 21 and $8.00 under 21.
