A promotional press photograph showing singer-songwriter Pete Yorn. Captured in a medium shot on an open-air urban rooftop during sunset, indie rock musician Pete Yorn stands looking directly toward the camera. He wears dark sunglasses, a dark denim jacket pin-badged on the lapel, a studded belt, and dark pants. He leans casually with one arm resting on a white concrete ledge wall, set against a wide panoramic view of a city skyline and rolling hills illuminated by the warm orange and golden light of the setting sun.

For Pete Yorn fans, the morning after was 25 years ago. Illustrating just how long ago that was, the early-aughts songwriter darling of indie-rock took to TikTok and other social media platforms to announce a solo acoustic tour celebrating the silver anniversary of his debut LP, which was released in March 2001.

Clocking in at just under an hour, Musicforthemorningafter birthed three singles, but had a permanent home in the car disc changers of American Apparel-wearing hipsters across the U.S. “Indie” before the genre took hold on iTunes, Yorn’s 14-track album was a no-filler outing that traversed rock, pop, and folk while giving late-Gen-X-ers poetry to help them describe their charmed, pre-Great Recession lives.

To mark the anniversary, Yorn, now 52 years old, gave fans a deluxe digital re-release of the album with new live versions of songs recorded at Jack White’s Third Man Records in Nashville.

Tickets to see Pete Yorn play Orpheum in Tampa on Wednesday, Feb. 3 are still available for $59.56.
