Amidst a deteriorating economy and the fast approach of summer, many parents are seeking summer programs that not only offer safe, fun and enriching activities for their children but are, most importantly, budget friendly.

The Bringe School of Music (2143 First Ave. N., St. Petersburg) hosts multiple camps this summer that children of all ages can enjoy. "These camps are a great way for kids to determine what avenue they want to take before school starts," School of Music Coordinator Debbie Heffern said.

Among the offerings are "Adventures in Music," a one-week camp designed to serve as an introduction to the different families of musical instruments — brass, woodwinds, piano, guitar, percussion and the like. This camp features hands-on lessons in every class and kids ages 9 to 14 interested in music should be delighted by this exploratory journey. Ages 9 to 11, June 13-17, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.; and ages 12 to 14, June 20-24, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. $159 per student.
