If this goes off, I believe it will be the first Head Automatica show in the Bay area to not be cancelled. Originally a collaboration between former Glassjaw frontman Daryl Palumbo and super-hip producer/electro-composer Dan the Automator, Head Automatica seems to be edging away from an almost caricatured take on stylish dance-rock, and toward something more grounded in traditional pop; must have something to do with the full live band Palumbo has put together since releasing first studio effort Decadence. In any case, fans of the project's tight, well-crafted and catchy tunes must be champing at the bit for a headlining set. Plus, heavily buzzed NYC retro-rock scenesters Diamond Nights are always good for an hour of Thin Lizzy-influenced fun, and will no doubt draw plenty of warm bodies (in tight and/or carefully disheveled fashions) their damn selves.

Head Automatica, w/Diamond Nights/My American Heart/CAMU, Friday, March 24 @ the State Theatre, St. Petersburg. 7 p.m.; $13.
