✔️ The Jackettes Album Release Show w/Ari Chi/The Venus You can find Jackettes frontman Jackson Davis at every kind of show, and if you were at a recent art raffle at The Attic Café this year, then you probably saw him play on a bill put together by Bay area songwriter Ari Chi. On Friday, the ukulele-wielding CL favorite (her 2017 album Color Fool landed on our list of best local albums) returns the favor by opening during The Jackettes’ album release show at St. Petersburg DIY venue Paper Crane. The Venus — fronted by Alexander Charos, who produced The Jackettes’ new album — opens the show, and you can read our feature on Davis here. (Paper Crane, St. Petersburg) INFO

St. Petersburg indie-pop group The Jackettes make uncertainty feel safe on sophomore LP
The Young Step w/Lassyu/House of I It’s only been a few months since The Young Step visited Tampa for a set at Microgroove, but the St. Augustine indie-pop trio is set to cross the bridge and set up at St. Petersburg’s Cage Brewing for this one, where it’ll play songs from a catchy 2016 long-player (El Clàsico) and hopefully tease any new music from the record the band is working on. St. Pete’s own indie/alt-soul trio Lassyu plays in support of its self-titled 2018 EP after House of I opens the show. (Cage Brewing, St. Petersburg) INFO
✔️ Songwriters In-The-Round w/Joshua Reilly/Nathanael Hyer/Kyle Keller Songwriter in the round shows aren’t anything new, but more the merrier, right? This one finds Joshua Reilly wrangling up Gainesville songwriter Kyle Keller for a night of song and stories alongside Nathanael Hyer, a newish addition to the Bay area scene, who we last mentioned when he canceled an appearance at downtown Tampa’s Rock the Park concert series. (Hideaway Café, St. Petersburg) INFO
Craig Morgan Oomph. The last couple of years have been tough for country singer Craig Morgan, whose 19-year-old son passed away in a 2016 Tennessee boating accident. The 53-year-old may not have turned to music to help him cope (“When we lost Jerry, I didn’t go to the guitar. I went to the shop. For me, my therapy was to go cut wood,” he recently told People), but he will be playing hits like “That’s What I Love About Sunday” and “Redneck Yacht Club” when he comes to headline Tampa’s country music emporium on US-301. (Dallas Bull, Tampa) INFO
Stone Cobras CD Release Show w/The Prople/Laser Mouth/Long Lost Enemies “Woodzrock” — at least to the Stone Cobras — is a mix of punk, rockabilly, garage, folk, doo-wop and country. Anyone interested in hearing what that actually sounds like can head out to this free show where the Tampa-based outfit will celebrate the release of a new CD, Twisted Tales from the Stone Cobras. Punk rock power duo The Prople opens this show along with lowbrow Safety Harbor noise-rock group Laser Mouth. (Fubar, St. Petersburg) INFO
Victims of Circumstance w/Longfinger Green Bench Brewing’s free concerts usually skew towards Americana or folk, but promoters are switching gears this weekend and welcoming Clearwater ska band Victims of Circumstance and grunge-rock punk group Longfinger. If you miss Longfinger on Friday, then rest easy knowing that the band’s reach has them also playing Ferg’s — just a block away — on the Fourth of July. (Green Bench Brewing Co., St. Petersburg) INFO
Donny and Marie Osmond Expect nothing less than a perfectly polished set when Donny and Marie Osmond bring nearly a century’s worth of showbiz expertise to St. Petersburg. The endless hits (“Puppy Love,” “Paper Roses” and “A Little Bit Country, A Little Bit Rock N Roll,” to name a few) and numbers (a collective 142 albums, more than 100 million copies sold plus 51 gold and platinum recordings) don’t lie, and this one is gonna be a safe space for fans who wish that artists would just “stick to music,” too. “Our show is not politically based, it’s not religious-based. We don’t preach to the audience,” Donny Osmond recently told Fox News. “We entertain the audience. I think that’s the difference between some entertainers and us.” (Mahaffey Theater, St. Petersburg) INFO
✔️ Poison w/Pop Evil Sick of seeing Bret Michaels play Bay area shows as a solo act? Get ready to have “Nothin’ But A Good Time” at this one where the 55-year-old will lead Poison through one of the first shows happening as part of a new concert series at Al Lang Stadium. Other Al Lang shows include Lauryn Hill with Big Boi and Counting Crows with Live, but we’re looking to see what the place looks like when it gets packed with three generations of hair-metal fans. (Al Lang Stadium, St. Petersburg) INFO
Rest, Repose w/Drewsif/The Home Team Hide your grumpy uncle before reading this one out loud. Rest, Repose is a Seattle-based metalcore band that’s gained notoriety thanks in part to drummer Jared Dines, whose heavy-metal recreations of pop songs (think Katy Perry meets Avenged Sevenfold) have earned him nearly 2 million followers on YouTube alone. Another internet famous band (Drewsif, 50K YouTube followers) opens the show. (Crowbar, Ybor City) INFO
Psymbionic Gasoline Alley continues its mission to make Largo an EDM hotspot by welcoming Gravitas Recordings’ John Burcham (aka Psymbionic) for a headlining set that’ll surely draw fans who’ve seen him open for the likes of genre favorites like Bassnectar, STS9, Big Gigantic, ill.Gates, Excision, EOTO, and Tipper. Burcham’s music is less reliant on the “drop,” so neighbors probably won’t be too upset about the bass coming out of the place. (Gasoline Alley Cafe, Largo) INFO
Parmalee Hey zipcode freaks, the 27861 is literally coming to the 34691. The former is the postal code for Parmalee — a town in North Carolina and the name of a country band of brothers — and the latter is the zip for The Stockyard in Holiday, where Parmalee the band will bring its new album (titled 27861) out to play. “We all have that tattooed on us somewhere,” singer and guitarist Matt Thomas said about the numerals. “We’ve had that album title for a while; we’ve really been wanting to use it. We just felt like now was the time to use it.” (The Stockyard, Holiday) INFO
H.A.G.S. Summer Art Show wDJ Betty Dawl Summer nostalgia is the theme for H.A.G.S., an all-female art show (it stands for “Have a great summer,” kids) that features work by Carmela Zabala, Daisy Robles and Soojin Brown. The grill will be fired (with 3 Dot Dash providing vegan eats) and a D.I.Y. ice cream truck will even be on hand — because what other kind of fucking ice cream truck would you expect to see in Seminole Heights? Betty Dawl plays DJ and proceeds will be donated to Feeding Tampa Bay so that kids on vacay can still eat, too. (The Independent, Tampa) INFO
Stu Hamm Master Class A revered Joe Satriani and Steve Vai sideman comes to South Tampa for a free bass guitar masterclass.
