With DeSantis’ DOGE team on the way to audit St. Petersburg, there’s never been a better time to hear the message in music from homegrown acts like Walled City, an anti-fascist punk quartet released a new single, “Six Weeks,” over the summer.

The searing track slams politicians who’ve weaponized the “sanctity of life” for votes.

“No social services, no safety net. Your baby? Your problem,” the band sings. “Even if left unsaid, Criminalized healthcare; can’t take the risk. It’s pro-life ‘til birth, then it’s over; that’s it.”

The b-side (a live recording of “Our Bodies”) hits just as hard.

St. Pete bands Spanish Needles, Caught Fire, Headless State and Minnøch open the show.

Tickets to see Walled City play Noisemakers Music in St. Petersburg on Saturday, Aug. 9 are $15 at the door.
