St. Lucia Credit: Shervin Lainez

South Africa born, NYC-based musician Jean-Philip Grobler is better known by his stage name, St. Lucia, under which he crafts vibrant artful pop and synth rock showcased in power-charged ‘80s-hued odes like the dancefloor busting “Home,” brightened with explosive brass and urgent electro beats, while he reveals his sexy R&B influences in the calculated down-tempo groove n’ sway of “Love Somebody.” Both tracks come off 2016 sophomore LP Matter, which was produced by Chris Zane (Passion Pit, The Walkmen) and spurs his current headlining tour with his full four-piece band in tow. Nashville openers Kind craft lush sparkling dance rock with heavy New Wave flavors. 7 p.m., State Theatre, St. Petersburg, $20, all ages.
