Here's a look at some concerts happening on this Sat., Nov. 14.
Slow Magic with Daktyl, Rude100 Amid the rise of indietronic producers are several who chose to remain masked and anonymous ala Slow Magic, the dreamy R&B-hued jams driven by keys, samples and electronic and organic drums; “Girls,” the first single off Slow Magic's debut with Downtown Records, How To Run Away, sets sliced and collaged vocal splices to pulsing and breaking house beats while “Waited 4 U” is late night music carried on lounging down-tempo grooves. (Crowbar, Ybor City)
Robb Bank$ On the rise in Florida’s underground rap scene for the last four years, Robb Bank$ has been gaining traction after releasing a few mixtapes – Calendars and Tha City – to much acclaim. And he’s always been open about his love for Tampa. He’s making his way back here for the second time in three months after performing at TakeoffxLanding hip-hop festival, shooting a video for his track, “Pressure,” and dropping a well-reviewed debut full-length, Year of the Savage. This date sees warm-up from fellow South Florida rappers IndigoChildRick and WifisFuneral. (Orpheum, Ybor City) –Andrea McCray
Greater Pinellas Country Fair: The Bellamy Brothers You probably didn’t know there was a fair in Pinellas County, didja? Likely because it’s only in its second year of bringing rides, exhibits and live entertainment to Pinellas Park, with vet country pop duo Bellamy Brothers serving as the big-name talent heading up the Saturday festivities. (England Brothers Park, Pinellas Park)
Dunedin Wines the Blues Festival with The Kinsey Report Now in its 22nd year, the annual downtown Dunedin block party features more than two dozen vineyards and four stages worth of music reaching down Main Street and the main Pioneer Park stage headlined by Indiana blues rock three-piece The Kinsey Report. (downtown Dunedin, Dunedin)
Rock for R.A.K. Part 3 Nonprofit homeless organization R.A.K. (Random Acts of Kindness) Southwest Florida holds this charity show featuring a bunch of heavy acts (Wirethrone, Under Fallen Order, Drastic Fall, The Dood, Progressive Chemistry, The Cunningham Wake and Kadaver Dolls, in that order, from 6 p.m. to midnight), and offers free admission with a donation of warm clothing, blankets or bags; non-perishable food items are also accepted but the former are preferred. (Local 662, St. Petersburg)
Allison Weiss with Mal Blum NOISEY.com called Love – the 2015 sophomore LP from LA-based indie pop songstress Allison Weiss – one of the most memorable records you’ll hear all year; hooky, clever, synth-fueled songs marked by her bright tuneful vocals. Also on the bill: Mal Blum, a New York singer-songwriter who’s opened for the likes of Mike Doughty, Amanda Palmer and Jenny Owen Youngs; the latter also co-wrote the lead single on Weiss’ Love, “Golden Coast.” (New World Brewery, YBor City)
WMNF Presents: James McMurtry with Big Shoals A wry and literate folk rock songsmith with a warm drawling vocal quality, James McMurtry just released his first collection of new material in six years and ninth LP overall, Complicated Game, which earned all manner of acclaim for its lyrical storytelling and complex yet relatable characters (it has an impressive 88 out of 100 rating on Metacritic) and peaked at No. 1 on the Heatseekers charts. (Skipper's Smokehouse, Tampa)
Juicy J with Austen London, Royce Rizzy After canceling his originally scheduled performance back in June, Juicy J returns to the Bay area to make-up the date on the next leg of his “Twerk or Die” tour. While his style isn’t for everybody, Juicy J has undoubtedly held his own following his exit from Three 6 Mafia. The trippy Memphis rapper has already dropped two mixtapes this year, Blue Dream & Lean 2 in February and 100% Juice – which has clocked more than a quarter-million downloads – in September, and a fourth solo LP Pure THC: The Hustle, is apparently finished, though the release date is still TBD.
