It's a rather slow Sun., Jan. 17, at least as far as live music goes. Still, there are a few things happening that are worth mentioning. Take a look at the breakdown below.

Dawns, Culture Vulture, Ninehorn A pretty cool Sunday night after-hours in-store at Microgroove that features Culture Vulture, from Savannah, Ga., a prog-math outfit that brightens up their idiosyncratic experimentation and time signature changes with lead trombone that toots, screams and dances amid the guitar solos and roiling tempos. Support from Dawns – the new project featuring members of Zulu Wave – and Ninehorn (featuring members of Alexander & the Grapes, Empire Cinema and Sun Signs). Admission is free but you should bring some cash to donate to the bands for gas; show starts at 6 p.m. sharp. (Microgroove, Tampa)

Soul Circus Cowboys Album Release Party Local Southern rock n’ bro-country quartet Soul Circus Cowboys present a sophomore “all killer, no filler” LP, Tailgate Country, at this Sunday evening show and give away a free copy with each $10 ticket. Show starts at 5 p.m.; warm-up from Railway Kings and Strong Side Draw. (Skipper’s Smokehouse, Tampa)
