Fans of the Flaming Lips and My Morning Jacket take note: Last month, Louisiana quintet Brass Bed self-released Midnight Matinee, a fun, captivating, diverse album of mostly guitar-and-piano-driven melodies decorated with spot-on trappings ranging from trumpet to pedal steel to tape loops to tuba. The full-length is intelligent and warm, clever yet comforting — and, y'know, a bit zany. Also on the bill is the outstanding Orlando alt-country outfit Thomas Wynn & the Believers. The five-piece alternates between quiet folk and barn-burning rockers such as the kiss-off "You Can't Hurt Me," which throws some blazing Crazy Horse grunge into the mix. At the core of the band's success is Wynn's gold-dust voice.
