Baton Rouge’s Thou brings sludge-metal to The Blue Note on Tuesday in support of a punishing 2018 LP where the outfit smacks the ideas of corrosive idolatry and sacred ego in the face with an unyielding, doom bringing metal sound. Big Brave, which packed its 2017 album, Ardor, with big waves of feedback and the weight of what feels like a dozen downtuned guitars, opens this show which is somehow not sold-out.

Thou w/Big Brave/Blackwater Holylight. Tues. Sept. 24, 7 p.m. $15. The Blue Note, Tampa. eventbrite.com.
