✔️ = Critic's Pick

✔️  Arcade Fire w/Wolf Parade There’s a lot of excitement in the air as Canadian indie-rock royals Arcade Fire bring a new stage set-up to the USF Sun Dome for what is the venue’s first big show since handing the reins over to Jeff Vinik’s Tampa Bay Entertainment Properties company (more on all of that in our interview with multi-instrumentalist and composer Richard Reed Parry here). We’ll be excited to see how Arcade Fire’s critically loathed new album (Everything Now, released in July) performs alongside selections from the band’s otherwise revered discography, which, for more than a decade now, has been a shining example how radio rock doesn’t have to suck. ✔️  Disco Town Hall w/Will Butler Hardcore Arcade Fire fans will want to jet over to Ybor City after the Sun Dome show, since Will Butler will be hosting a Disco Town Hall at a much smaller club (Crowbar holds a few hundred people compared to the Sun Dome’s capacity of about 10,000) during an event meant to “engage fans with local organizations, activists, and politicians engaged in helping the vulnerable and empowering communities.” Don’t worry, there will be live performances and some DJ-ing, too. Plus, a fifth of the $5 cover is also goes to Partners in Health, which helps provide healthcare for the needy. (Crowbar, Ybor City) INFO

✔️  Touché Amoré w/Single Mothers/Gouge Away You’d be hard-pressed to find a better example for American post-hardcore excellence than Touché Amore, and no one would judge you if you’ve had the southern California outfit’s 2016 album, Stage Four, on repeat since its release exactly one year ago. Alums of Jay-Z’s Made In America festival, frontman Jeremy Bolm & Co. should be able to sell out this early show that’s supposed to clear out before Arcade Fire’s Will Butler hosts an after-party disco following his own band’s USF Sun Dome gig (more on that below). Canadian punks Single Mothers and Fort Laudy’s own Gouge Away open the gig. (Crowbar, Ybor City) INFO

✔️  Henrietta w/Superhaunted/Snacking/Weak Knees After an Irma-related cancellation messed up plans at St. Pete’s Lucky You Tattoo, things look to be getting back on track. To celebrate, promoters are welcoming and all-Sunshine State lineup of melodic indie rock (Orlando’s Henrietta), mathy punk  (Miami sad boys Superhaunted) and Bay area emo (Snacking, Weak Knees). Per usual, this is an all-ages show. (Lucky You Tattoo, St. Petersburg) INFO

Shooting the Breeze and Spilling the Red, Red Wine: A Conversation with UB40's Ali Campbell

UB40 Legends: Ali, Astro and Mickey Finally, the different iterations of reggae-pop band UB40 have found a way to separate themselves from each other. This one clearly features Ali Campbell, Mickey Virtue and Terence “Astro” Wilson (founding members who recorded an album together in 2016) and is far more enjoyable than the one Ali’s brother, Duncan Campbell, tried to force down fans’ throats on a 2010 album, Labour of Love IV. Glove w/Fayroy/Sleeping Pills For its second show ever, St. Petersburg’s Glove is opening for The Growlers in October. The practice run, so to speak, happens on Friday when the rock and rollers play a debut at The Bends alongside CL faves (surf-rock outfit Fayroy) and Phil Taylor’s Sleeping Pills project, which is warming up for its own upcoming album release show.
