John Mayer w/The Night Game John Mayer has quite the resume these days. The 39-year-old is a Grammy winner, Hollywood playboy, Dead and Company frontman, and considered one of the greatest guitar players alive. After he spent the late 2000s topping Billboard charts and making headlines for his off-kilter comments (“My dick is sort of like a white supremacist,” he regrettably told Rolling Stone) Mayer has spent the last several years out of the limelight. He’s back on the touring circuit and arrives supporting The Search For Everything, which he released this year. Expect a marathon at this show where Mayer will play three sets (solo acoustic, backed by Steve Jordan and Pino Palladino in a trio and with a full band) that promise to span the swath of his 16-year-old catalog. Kasondra Rose St. Pete-based Kasondra Rose didn’t always want to be a musician. Growing up in Michigan, she left for New York with the aspirations of being a dancer. While she was doing this, she took vocal lessons on the side, an extracurricular activity that blossomed into a full fledged passion. This music route took her to St. Pete, where she’s been playing music for the last decade. Her silky warm voice will enchant, and a good excuse to catch another free show at the Independent.
