✔️  Critic's Pick

✔️  Obituary w/Shroud Eater/Beerwolf/Druid Lord/Warlab There was no way Irma was gonna kill Obituary, but that billowy bitch did cancel the Tampa metal gods’ September 9 show at Brass Mug. Well, here’s a redo where the Brandon, Florida boys will play a show at what’s perennially been the standard-issue stomping ground for any rock band that wants to do anything meaningful in the Bay area. Extra bonus points since the show doubles as a release for Obiturary’s new Cigar City Brewing beer, “Find the A-Ryez Rye” amber ale, and we’ll give a gold star to anyone who gets there early to see Tampa metal trio Beerwolf play in support of a brand new album, Planetfall, which it released two weeks ago. (Brass Mug, Tampa) INFO

✔️ Austin Lucas w/Ryan Singer If you loved Marc Maron’s IFC TV series, then you know who Austin Lucas is (the Indiana songwriter played himself on Maron), but some of you also know the alt-country crooner from stints opening for Willie Nelson and Chuck Ragan. On Friday he ups the ante on his last unconventional Bay area appearance (an April house show in Tampa) by taking to St. Petersburg’s Body Electric yoga studio with another Maron favorite (comedian Ryan Singer) for one of the more interesting shows of the weekend. Expect Singer to have his hilarious, down-to-earth charm on full blast, and keep your fingers crossed for previews of Lucas’ forthcoming album, Immortal Americans, which is due sometime next year. Review: In St. Petersburg, St. Paul & the Broken Bones do some soul-stirring, search their own at Jannus Live (w/ photos + setlist)

Blues Traveller w/Los Colognes It’s been just seven months since Los Colognes opened for St. Paul and the Broken Bones in the very same room, but this time the Nashville-based rock band has a new album (The Wave, released in May) to show off when it plays opener during an appearance from “Run-Around” singer John Popper and Blues Traveler. The 10-track album — chock with relatable Americana-pop jams — shows off Los Cologne’s chops (the group has backed Margo Price, Rayland Baxter and Jonny Fritz on past tours) and will likely land them a local headlining gig sometime soon. (Jannus Live, St. Petersburg) INFO

Tim McGraw & Faith Hill w/LoCash Tim McGraw and Faith Hill have been adorbs for about 20 years now, and we shouldn’t forget that the country stars’ romance started on their joint “Spontaneous Combustion” tour back in ‘96. That’s why it’s cool to see one of the best-looking couples in music in Tampa on this tour, which arrives just two weeks after the pair announced that they would release their first-ever joint album, The Rest of Our Life, on November 17. (Amalie Arena, Tampa) INFO

✔️  Sextreme Ball 2017 w/Lords of Acid/Combichrist/Christian Death/Wiccid Fans of old-school Belgian acid-house group Lords of Acid have probably had tickets to see this show since the day they went on sale, band that’s because this show finds the Lords playing their reggae and ska-influenced 1994 album Voodoo-U in its entirety. Erie Loche’s new darkwave band Wiccid opens the show in support of its debut LP (By Design) along with Norwegian aggrotech outfit Combichrist and L.A. goth-rockers Christian Death. CL BOTB 2017 — Best Instagram Story (Ari Chi)

✔️  Art Raffle w/Sam E Hues/Vern Senior/The Jackettes/Mike Mass/Wally Clark Ukulele-wielding Tampa songwriter Ari Chi has spent the last couple weeks working in Atlanta (we know because of her BOTB-winning Instagram story), and we’re excited to see what kind of energy she brings to this underrated downtown Tampa café when St. Pete soul-pop band The Jackettes joins a bill comprised of three of the Bay area’s best emcees (Same E Hues, Vern Senior, Mike Mass). Bonus points since the evening also features an art raffle where a $5 cover gets you a ticket that could win art from some of the visual artists showing at the event. Get more information on the show and listen to music from Vern, Mass and Hues via local.cltampa.com. (The Attic Café, Tampa) INFO

Concerts In The Park w/2 Dog Night Tribute acts are forever infiltrating the daily live music roundups we post on cltampa.com/music every morning, but sometimes you’ve got to give a moniker like 2 Dog Night some ink. We’ll let you guess which ‘70s rock band is getting love at this seaside gig. (Horan Park, St. Pete Beach) INFO

✔️  Tommy Castro and The Painkillers w/Samantha Fish Blues guitarist and singer Samantha Fish has been a highlight of the last year (and we thoroughly enjoyed her Blues Fest set at Vinoy); here the 28-year-old plays opener and makes way for Tommy Castro, who arrives at the Skipperdome supporting a new album of blue-eyed Golden State rock and soul, Stompin’ Ground. Korn Again Don’t worry, this is not a band that turns contemporary Christian anthems into Korn-style rockers. It is a nostalgia act in the vein of the ‘90s nu-metal icons, however, and if you miss it in Tarpon Springs, then you’ll have another chance to catch the band in Tampa when it plays an October 28 gig at the Brass Mug.
