Dinosaur Jr. The unlikeliest of reunions is rounding the ten year mark, and as Dinosaur Jr. frontman J. Mascis and bassist Lou Barlow head towards a decade of putting the past behind them, the band — veritable legends in the 80s and 90s indie rock scene — don’t show any signs of slowing down. They’ve got a ripping new album to tour behind (last year’s Give A Glimpse of What Yer Not) and learned to manage the friction that caused so much drama way back in the day. Mascis, 51, is easily one of the best living guitar players, and the fuzz, feedback and pure noise he and his bandmates — Barlow, 50, and drummer Emmett “Murph” Murphy — made famous on albums like You’re Living All Over Me (1987), Bug (1988) and their 1985 debut Dinosaur — should be extra special at this sold out show. (State Theatre, St. Petersburg) SOLD OUT
Kyle w/Cousin Stizz/Superduperbrick There’s a lot of curiosity surrounding Kyle, and it probably has a lot to do with the way the young emcee is able to meld the catchy hooks of guys like Drake with the more intelligent, better looking style of dudes like Donald Glover. Expect long lines of young admirers queued up outside Orpheum when the Los Angeles based rapper hits Ybor City along with Cousin Stizz on this Super Duper Tour. (Orpheum, Ybor City) INFO
Los Lonely Boys The past few years have been difficult for Los Lonely Boys. On tour in early 2013, guitarist Henry Garza fell from a stage and suffered serious injuries than would necessitate a long period of recovery. Bassist Jojo ran into some trouble with his vocal cords; that sidelined him for awhile as well. And in 2015, the brothers' mom passed away. They’ve recovered and come to Capitol Theatre to sing their story. Read Bill Kopp’s interview with the band here. — Bill Kopp (Capitol Theatre, Clearwater) INFO
