Boy Harsher w/Burnt Hair/I Like Dog/Fjshwfe/Naga Yr Body Is Nothing. That’s the message Northampton, Massachusetts electro duo are sending on their 2016 cassette. The pair — Jae matthews & Augustus Muller — recorded the LP at home and at Peter Mavrogeorgis’ Dollhouse Studio. The Savannah, Georgia based producer has had his hand in music by a wide range of artists including The National, Sharon van Etten and even famed American minimalist composer Philip Glass. The expertise shows on Yr Body, which is a brooding 40 minute exercise in stripped down industrial EBM. A more out of towners (Orlando’s Burnt Hair and Sarasota’s I_like_dog_face) are making the trek to this Riverside Heights record store for the free show where donations will be taken to help the visiting bands, literally and figuratively, keep some gas in the tank. Veiny Hands w/Sleeping Pills/Jeremy Trevino Two weeks ago, CL wrote about a noisy weekend in Tampa’s Heights neighborhoods, and this show at Seminole Heights record store Microgroove is making us think that there might be a trend forming. Held on the same night Steelworker Records (just a mile away from Microgroove) hosts Boy Harsher from Massachusetts, Microgroove is tapping a trio of homegrown acts to rattle their windows, too. Veiny Hands, who arrive supporting a Ben Katzman/BUFU Records backed single “Dirty Sheets” headline the show, but they’re also joined by Sleeping Pills, a Tampa based post punk group that just released a self-titled debut in December. DJ Applejac w/DJ Casper/DJ Fader You're probably gonna hear some James Brown at Ol' Dirty Sundays tonight. Bill Withers, too, most likely. You've got Atlanta's DJ Applejac to thank for that one, and as the skies clear, he and ODS residents Casper and Fader will also man the ones + twos for Ybor City's best end of the weekend get down. Listen to a love mix from Applejac below. (Ol’ Dirty Sundays at Crowbar, Ybor City) INFO
