Gladys Knight She’s one of the great ones, for sure, and we’d be surprised if this show from the seven time Grammy winning vocalist doesn’t sell out before doors open. Motown’s rough voiced 72 year old Empress of Soul — who famously recorded close to two dozen album with the Pips — has plenty of solo material to pull from, too, and fans should expect to hear all of it at this Clearwater gig. Don’t count on being able to sample Knight’s famous fried chicken & waffles in the Ruth Eckerd lobby though. (Ruth Eckerd Hall, Clearwater) INFO
Udo Dirkschneider Accept it. This may be the last time you get to see Udo Dirkschneider do a bunch of Accept songs live and in person. Dirkschneider, 64, rose to fame fronting the German heavy metal band, and seems to be wanting to put the band in the past so he can focus on the music he’s making under the U.D.O. banner. The hulf of a man may be a “Midnight Mover,” but know that doors to thing thing are at 7 p.m. sharp. (Orpheum, Ybor City) INFO
Monday Night Jazz Series w/Eric Alexander On a night when Boz Scaggs is around to steal the easy listening spotlight, Eric Alexander has a lot of work to do. The 48 year old tenor saxman can handle the load, however, and he’s been doing it since 1992 when he led the way on New York Calling, an album released on Dutch record label Criss Cross Jazz.
