Wanted to kick today’s live music roundup off with a message of appreciation for the crew at Coast Bike Share, which celebrates its third anniversary today with a sweet group ride, raffle and more. We’ve put a few miles on its bikes as we zip in between venues, so we appreciate all the team does. Details on the party are here.
Gwar w/He Us Legend/US Bastards/Masked Villains of Creepysylvania Sadly, The Blood of Gods is Gwar’s first album without the band’s fallen frontman Oderus Urungus (David Brockie, who performed as the alien leader, was found dead in March 2014 after a heroin overdose). The record is a sonic scar and directly addresses the loss while also declaring that Gwar — a Richmond metal outfit that performs in elaborate costumes — will go on forever. Pay your respects (and wear a raincoat) at this show, which should live up to the band’s bloody, bodacious reputation. (The Ritz, Ybor City) INFO

University of Tampa Symphony Orchestra These Music Week blurbs usually drive you to the Sykes Chapel when CL highlights events at the University of Tampa, but this one invites you to cross Kennedy Boulevard and head to the Falk Theatre (look both ways, it’s Tampa after all), where the music program hosts another free show from the school’s symphony orchestra.
