Three noteworthy shows are happening in Ybor City and Clearwater on this Tue., March 1. Take a look at the breakdown below.
Lisa Fischer & Grand Baton She’s provided strong soulful vocal back-up to the likes of Tina Turner, Luther Vandross and most famously (and lengthily – since 1989), the Rolling Stones; her belting on “Gimme Shelter” is stone cold impressive. Solo, with a full band, she has an R&B and jazz-groove oriented sound that puts her powerful pipes front and center. (Capitol Theatre, Clearwater)
Bag Raiders with Plastic Plates Jack Glass and Chris Stracey are the Aussie producers/musicians behind Bag Raiders, and have been churning out alternative dance music and synthpop sounds since coming together in 2006. The duo has only one full-length – their 2010 self-titled debut – but has churned out a string of EPs, remixes and singles including recent bass floppy disco-tinged ode, “Friend Inside.” (Orpheum, Ybor City)
Josh Groban The first four outings from smooth pop-classical star Josh Groban were multi-platinum – and holiday-themed Noël was the highest-grossing album of 2007. Stages – the 2015 seventh studio LP that spurs his current tour – re-imagines songs from Broadway musicals and ascended to No. 2 on the Billboard 200. (Ruth Eckerd Hall, Clearwater)
