Lots happening this Fri., Sept. 25. Here's a quick breakdown of some highlights, plus the full Friday schedule, and, finally, a peek at what's coming up this weekend…

MarchFourth Marching Band with UNRB, Sepiatonic WMNF sure does love MarchFourth Marching Band. The Portland ensemble headlined Friday night’s main outdoor stage at Tropical Heatwave this year, and has been brought back to town by the community radio station to deliver their outlandish feast for the eyes and ears in a more intimate club/theater atmosphere. MarchFourth is made up of 20 or so musicians and dancers who take marching band music to a whole new level of vivacious bombast with Vaudeville-style dancing, hooping, acrobatics and stilt-walking, eye-popping costumes – burlesque frippery, parts of embellished marching band uniforms, feathered head pieces and glittering hats – and a great big percussion-fueled brass-blasted sound rocketing from jazz into sinister rock, Afro-beat exotic and funkadelic territories. A must see, especially with equally vibrant ska-punk uke-and-horns rockers (and multi-year Best of the Bay winners) UNRB warming the stage along with electro-hued Sepiatonic, billed as a "vaudeville-style belly dance, burlesque, and musical project from the Bohemian arts epicenter of Portland … Larger than life characters, burlesque, and variety acts bring to life the soundscape of original electronic and live music on stage." (State Theatre, St. Petersburg)

SPC Piano Concert Series: Paul Posnak, Classics and Classic Jazz An intriguing program of piano-powered classical music (Chopin, Haydn), jazz (Fats Waller) and compositions that lie somewhere in between (Gershwin, Ernesto Lecuona) by UM professor/arranger/concert pianist Paul Posnak. (SPC Music Center, St. Petersburg)

The Ries Brothers The youthfully rocking Ries brothers (drummer Charlie, age 19, and guitarist Kevin, age 15) have been causing quite the stir here, opening for the likes of Los Lonely Boys and Edgar Winter Band. The duo was supposed to be featured in this year’s 25 & Under Fall Arts issue, but had to bail when Charlie got a dog bite that took him to the hospital. We’ll get back to the brothers in due time. Until then, this exciting gig finds the Ries Brothers headlining the newly revamped Murray. (Murray Theatre @ Ruth Eckerd Hall, Clearwater)

Sara Rose Band & The Oak Hill Drifters Two feminine-commanded area acts plying vintage-soaked rockabilly hit the New World stage on this Friday night stand: the Bay area’s own Sara Rose Band plying traditional country and honky tonk as piloted by its namesake songstress, while The Oak Hill Drifters from Orlando blend ‘40s-‘60s-hued country, Western Swing and R&B, steel slide guitarist Tom Cooper shares lead vocal duties with acoustic guitar slinger Rachel Decker.. (New World Brewery, Ybor City)
