Boogarins w/Winter/Soapbox Soliloquy You’re going to want to taste these Boogarins. The Brazilian psych-rock quartet comes armed with a vaunted live show, and if its surprise album (Lá Vem a Morte, released on June 9) is any indication, then fans can expect to be seduced by frontman Dinho Almeida’s Portuguese lyrics (“Boogarins” references the jasmine flower, not hard snot, by the way) plus the rest of the band’s cool and confident mish-mash of tropical jazz, samba and otherworldly guitar noise. J-Boog w/The Ries Brothers Compton has given the world Venus, Serena, NIrvana’s Krist Novoselic, Kevin Costner and a slew of great rappers (hi Kendrick, N.W.A, Dr. Dre). It’s also given the world a little slice of the irie life thank to J-Boog. The Long Beach-born Samoan marries the worlds of his heritage and neighborhood quite nicely on songs like “Good Cry.” Have a look below to hear what we mean. (The Crowbar, Ybor City) INFO
