We've arrived at the weekend, which means a full night of live music ahead on this Fri., March 18, as well as some quality concerts coming up on Saturday and Sunday. A breakdown with highlights for tonight below.

The Sh-Booms EP Release Show After finally finishing a new self-titled EP with Grammy-nominated producer Alan Armitage (Boyz II Men), Orlando septet The Sh-Booms are ready to drop it like it’s hot. A preview of first single “Usage Fee” finds the full-throated force of pipes that is frontwoman Mizz Bren bolstered by tight, effusive, brass-burnished garage-soul with definite Motown doo wop appeal. Support at their Bay area release show comes from Chicago’s soulfully breezy Fat Night and St. Pete shoegazy Seafang. (New World Brewery, Ybor City)

Bowie Festival Memorial Show The next homage to the late art rock icon features David Bowie-inspired art and goodies, glam-pushing face painters, a Thin White Duke impersonator, and sets jam-packed with Bowie odes by local acts Trigger City Trio, Acting Natural, Row Jomah, Jordan Esker and the Hundred Percent, the Colleen and Andy Show, Alexander Bowers & Wesley Bland, Vita Devoid and Redfeather. The $5 admission goes directly to the performers, which are otherwise playing solely for their love of the fallen icon. (Local 662, St. Petersburg)

Trae Pierce & T Stone Band w/On the Avenue Orlando-based Trae Pierce is a badass bass-banger and slider with booming soulful vocals and talkbox chops he flexes leading his hip hop-soaked blues and funk rock group, T Stone Band. In addition to the feather in his black trademark top hat, Pierce more than three-decade career includes the distinction of playing sideman to James Brown, The Ohio Players and the Blind Boys of Alabama (with whom he won one of his four Grammys), not to mention producing and recording with a range of artists, from Flo-Rida to Emmylou Harris. Live, he’s proves himself a showman with plenty of exuberance and fine-tuned finesse. (Skipper's Smokehouse, Tampa)

Equinox Hip Hop Show To ring in the March Equinox – which happens on March 20 at 12:30 a.m. – Venture throws a show featuring all manner of diverse hip hop-rooted talent: Lux Bando, Bay Sir, Hanashi and Makai Alexander, DEA & Saint, and Tyrell Golden. Admission is $5; doors at 8 p.m. (The Venture Compound, St. Petersburg)

We The Kings with AJR, She Is We, Elena Coats & Brother James We profiled Bradenton’s We the Kings as the pop punk outfit was on the come up back in 2007, after their self-titled debut made it to No. 37 on the Billboard Heatseekers charts. In the nine years and five albums since, they’ve enjoyed more chart time, most lucratively in 2011’s Sunshine State of Mind, and performed four Warped Tours between 2008 and 2014. This date supports 2015 sixth album, Strange Love. (State Theatre, St. Petersburg)

Los Lobos Cali’s elder statesmen of soulful Chicano rock turned out a fine new LP last year, Just Another Band From East L.A. In his review for CL, longtime music writer Eric Snider lauded the album as having the same virtues of 1992’s revelatory Gates of Gold: “focused eclecticism, supreme hooksmanship, spirited playing, beguiling arrangements, soulful singing and — probably most important — a sense of daring rarely heard in such a long-standing band.” Check out Snider’s story about Los Lobos here. (Capitol Theatre, Clearwater)
