Alright, stop dragging our hearts around and break out that leather and lace. Our girl has arrived in Tampa. Stevie Nicks is at Amalie with The Pretenders opening (!!!). It's a good ticket, but another legend (Bonnie Raitt) is playing across the bridge, too. Add in some loud rock in North Tampa, and you've got yourself another night of solid live music options. See below for more.
Mannequin Pussy w/Poster/Jensen Serf Company This match-up is almost too good to be true. We’ve got a soft spot over here for Lakeland-based band Poster, and the fact that they’ll be playing a show with powerhouses Mannequin Pussy from Philly and and Jensen Serf Company out of St. Pete is straight up blowing our minds. Get ready for music that will bring you those hazy summer day sweats all over again, this time mixed in with a shitload of more angst and about triple the bass. You’re welcome. Bonnie Raitt w/The California Honeydrops Need something to talk about? Talk about how we’re not ashamed of that terrible joke. What isn’t a joke, however, is the fact that Bonnie Raitt is still touring behind new material. The 66-year-old guitar gunslinger released Dig In Deep in February where she addresses some dark times in her life (mom and dad died within a year of each other in in the early 2000s and then her brother succumbed to brain cancer in 2009) all while maintaining the fan-favorite sound she’s worked on with longtime collaborator Ricky Fataar, who’ll actually be on drums for this show which is Raitt’s first one back at Ruth Eckerd since she sold out the room in 2013. Raitt has an onstage attitude and confidence that cannot be imitated, so fans both old and new should be highly entertained for this one. (Ruth Eckerd Hall, Clearwater) INFO
