In the wake of touring with a full band behind 2011 much-lauded LP Dive and digging how his ambient electro compositions grew instrumental flesh, San Francisco-based Ghostly International-repped Tycho (the pseudonym of producer/musician Scott Hansen) was inspired to keep the chemistry going in the studio, inviting Zac Brown (guitars, bass) and percussionist/drummer Rory O’Connor to collab with him on 2014 fourth full-length, Awake. Songs like “See” hearken back to Tycho’s familiar melody-drenched synth-scapes and effected groove washes but with added organic guitar and bass textures and more kick to the rhythms, while “Montana” takes the dance sounds into glistening post-rock territories. Hansen has said that in many ways, Awake is “the first true Tycho record.” He brings his full-band tour to town in support, with warm-up from Autograf. 8 p.m. doors, 9 p.m. show, The Ritz Ybor, Ybor City, $23.75 (all ages).
