For its 15th anniversary, Una Voce The Gay Men's Chorus of Tampa Bay has announced that their 15th anniversary season will reflect "the chorus’ mission to celebrate the inherent dignity of all people during this divisive and turbulent time."
DO THIS: UNA VOCE KICKOFF SHOWS FEB 17-18 AT THE SPACE AT 2106
"“In the current political and social climate, our mission to celebrate diversity through music is now more important than ever,” chorus president Harold Harkins said in a press release. “By underscoring our own diversity and increasing our outreach to groups who are under-represented or under threat, we can literally create a voice to help speak for community and diversity.”
It all starts on February 17 and 18, when a pair of kickoff cabaret concerts happen at The Space at 2106 in Tampa. Tickets to the show are $20.
According to the release, "Bette, Babs, & Beyond" will tap talented soloists, ensembles and the full chorus for a cabaret style concert that showcases influential, fabulous females like Barbra Streisand, Bette Midler, Beyoncé and more.
“Music reaches people’s hearts and creates an immediate sense of community,” said chorus artistic director Joseph Caulkins. “In this turbulent time, the opportunity for us to come together and reach out with a positive message while doing something we love is incredibly important.”
