I'm cruising into the last weekend of April armed with a satchel of new tracks. Frank Ocean continues to release excellence, I'm still high on Kendrick's new masterpiece, and The Black Angels are back with a new psych-rock record. Starting off this new mixtape is an intro cut from the late, great J Dilla, from his new album, Motor City. Proving yet again he really never left us and his influence is still a substantial part of indie hip-hop. Scroll below to see what else you should be jamming this week.

I'm a huge fan of Hot Chip, so when I read their founding member and singer-keyboardist Joe Goddard was venturing out to try the solo scene, I was naturally excited. I hoped for a for similar sound from previous Hot Chip records, but with a little more experimentation. Goddard gave me exactly what I hoped for with his first official solo record, Electric Lines. Goddard's production is easily recognizable right from the start, bringing in disco-infused sounds perfectly meshed with electronic soundscapes. There was probably six or seven different songs I could've chosen, but there was something about Goddard's title track "Electric Lines" that literally attached itself to me and hasn't let go. The way the track progresses is impressive. Electric Lines is one of the finest electronic dance records you'll hear this year.

Seattle four-piece Chastity Belt are about to drop their third LP, I Used to Spend So Much Time Alone (due June 2). The fuzzy guitar rock ladies continue to preview the new record, and this time it's with "Caught in a Lie," their latest single. Guitars swirl around lyrics about reflection as singer Julia Shapiro spouts lines like, “What good does truth bring?” Check for Chastity Belt on tour this summer.

The Blaze are becoming well known for the music they produce, but it's their captivating videos displaying the emotions of their music that is grabbing everyone's attention. The French duo has taken house music and made it almost melancholic. Seems like an oxymoron, but The Blaze have succeeded here. Their debut EP Territory gives listeners only four legit songs. Impactful, even if on the short side, the EP was released a few weeks back. "Sparks & Ashes" possesses a bit of a summer vibe that opens up with Calvin Harris-esque pianos transitioning to looping vocals, all within a subtle mid-tempo beat. If you get a moment take a look at the videos for "Virile" and 'Territory." That way you can see and hear the powerful art The Blaze are creating.
