This is a special week for me. My favorite band released their ninth studio album, and it was another successful surprise release, albeit a little odd that it fell on Mother's Day. Radiohead do odd the best, however. This edition of the Weekly Tune-Up features 13 great songs, but Radiohead owns the week and thus, are given top honors, both opening and closing out the playlist.

Radiohead's A Moon Shaped Pool has been a long five years in the making. It's here. It's beautiful. It's haunting. I think it goes without saying it's a must listen, and by listen, I mean fully immerse yourself in it. This isn't an album you just throw on for some light company or as background music; it's deeper than that. Does that mean it's difficult to listen to? Absolutely not. With each new play I find it settling in for a permanent stay.

Local Natives has become one of my favorite newer groups over the last six years. Seeing them perform live a few years ago only cemented my appreciation. With their third LP dropping soon, the Californians gave us a glimpse of what's to come with their first new single in three years, "Past Lives." It picks up where their excellent sophomore LP, Hummingbird, left off. Over layered drums and lush harmonies, they plead, "Save me from the prime of my life / I'll try to carry you home tonight." I'm very much looking forward to hearing the rest of their new material.

The Colour In Anything is the third release from lo-fi electro/R&B singer-producer James Blake, and it's definitely given Radiohead's new album a run for playing time because it's just that damn good. While Colour doesn't stray far from his previous two albums, Blake seems at home in his chosen aesthetic and has delivered a strong outing full of sparse sonic embellishments, heavy themes and an overriding loneliness, something that Blake evokes exceptionally well.
