She stormed the scene in '95 with the irresistible funk-rockin' single "I Know," (featuring the defiant line "It's not gonna work this time") and an album, Wild Seed — Wild Flower, that showed scads of talent, range and feminist attitude. Then — basically nothing. Farris has scored a couple of middling soundtrack hits since, but reported label snafus prevented her from building a career that should have been at least solid. She's still making music — check out her MySpace page — but Wild Seed — Wild Flower remains a poignant reminder of lost opportunities.
