Suggs stands to his left in a black suit jacket over an unbuttoned white collared shirt and black-rimmed glasses, playing a brass trumpet under warm stage spotlights.

There are just 63 days until Clearwater Jazz Holiday returns to Coachman Park where Shelia E., Chris Botti, Larkin Poe, Wood Brothers and Dumpstaphunk are among the headliners.

Organizers, in the meantime, are keeping themselves extremely busy with shows around the calendar including this summer jam with heavy hitters of the scene from Kool Reflections vocalist Belinda Womack, brass men Carl Fischer and James Suggs, saxophone wielding bandleader Jeremy Carter, and many more.

There’s no cover for these shows, and the RSVP list can get packed, but becoming a supporter of the nonprofit Clearwater Jazz Foundation is a good way to all-but-guarantee entry while supporting music education across the Bay area.

There’s no cover to see Belinda Womack and the Clearwater Jazz Ultimate Summer Jazz Jam at Central Park Performing Arts Center in Largo on Saturday, Aug. 15 with RSVP.
