Buck Sands’ band Former Contenders has been busy since Creative Loafing Tampa Bay last wrote about it playing everyone’s favorite downtown dive, including putting its working-class hybrid of alt-country, Americana, rock and punk to tape at Safety Harbor’s Everlovin’ Studios.
A mini summer tour through the Southeast is also in the works, but in the meantime the outfit’s weekend plans include this no-cover gig on Saturday at The Hub in downtown Tampa where songwriter Jeff Brawer and drummer Phil Stanwick back Y Los Dos Pistole guitarist-vocalist Russ Jovin in a new outfit, Tension Electric.
