The Waymores
I can’t think of anyone who wouldn’t hear shades of June Carter and Johnny Cash in the bloodstream of this Atlanta-based husband-and-wife duo.

The Waymores’ upcoming Greener Pastures album has plenty of slide guitar, a few organ licks, and even a little bit of rockabilly thrown in. The record—produced by Shel Talmy, who has brought early hits from both The Kinks and The Who to life—doesn’t release until late August, but it’s almost impossible to imagine that Willie Heath Neal and Kira Annalise won’t be doing sneak peeks at this no cover, reservations suggested, gig.

It's free to see The Waymores play Ella's Americana Folk Art Cafe in Tampa on Friday, July 7. Subscribe to Creative Loafing newsletters.
