Virtually everyone involved in any aspect of Tampa culture is familiar with Michael Murphy and his father, John, at least by sight if not by name. Whether at their own Silver Meteor Gallery, attending a local artist's opening or performance by a touring theater company, or kicking back at the New World having a beer and checking out a band, the pair was inseparable. Tragically, 67-year-old John passed away on April 12. Michael is inviting friends and strangers alike to celebrate his father's life and work this Tues., May 9, at Johnny We Hardly Knew Ye, a combination Irish wake and exhibition of John's own original art. The opening reception runs from 7 until 11 p.m.; John's work will remain on display until May 20. Silver Meteor Gallery, 2213 E.
