My life has pretty much centered on one date — August 24 — for the past six weeks or so, and after attending a three-hour-plus debate in Temple Terrace last night and about to cover another forum in a few hours, I have to admit that Tuesday night can't come quick enough.

But there will be plenty of political campaigning, and perhaps some dirty tricks, in the next four days.  Anyway, you can read my review of last night's NAACP-hosted candidates forum in Hillsborough County here.

I've been intently covering the Dan Gelber-Dave Aronberg race, going back to their first debate in Orlando last October (one of my first stories to appear in print with CL).  But now the Republican race for Attorney General has my full attention.

And it's the weekend in the dead of summer, which means the NFL pre-season has raised its troubled head, as it were.  As a huge fan, I hate being teased by the allure of football and competition, when the games end up becoming a mockery of competition.  In other words, I'm ambivalent about  the Tampa Bay Bucs being blacked out Saturday night in the Bay area.
