"Harvest Moon" (acoustic live)

of Montreal singer/guitarist Kevin Barnes sounds simply in love with Neil Young's "Harvest Moon" on this performance from what appears to be a club date earlier this year. The song first appeared as the title track to Young's 1992 acoustic album Harvest Moon. of Montreal does a faithful re-creation of the simple, sweet acoustic melody. But instead of aping Young's trademark whine, Barnes put his own stamp on the song with a high, soaring vocal that's magnificently heartfelt. Now, if only the asshole near whoever was taping this outstanding performance wouldn't have whistled along! of Montreal also covers "Harvest Moon" on their digital-only EP Sony Connect Set, which was made available in October.
