Former Pinellas resident Barb Morrison — now a successful producer and sound engineer in Brooklyn, N.Y., who’s worked with Deborah Harry and a slew of other prominent recording artists — has beaten some stacked-up odds to carve out a successful career in the recording industry who has defied stereotypes associated with gender and sexual orientation in her both personal and professional endeavors — and as a lifetime lover of football, a sport not celebrated by the majority of her artsy hetero and LGBT friends.

Morrison had one of those “Say it ain’t so” moments recently and blogged about her Twitter confrontation with Cleveland Browns Running Back Montario Hardesty, of whom she was somewhat of an admirer and had enlisted on her fantasy football league. She took offense with his offhanded Tweet of the word “gay” to imply lame or stupid. Hardesty responded to Morrison’s complaint with a request for her to “unfollow” him.

In her blog, Karma Police Arrest This Man, Morrison talks about her reaction to the Tweet and urges responsibility on the part of athletes who are admired by fans of all ages, gender and orientation.
