There has been a lot of intensity in St. Petersburg between supporters and opponents of The Lens design for the St. Pete Pier, and there was some concern about how that might play out at today's Suncoast Tiger Bay Club meeting at the St. Pete Yacht Club.
On Tiger Bay's website, local club president Anne Drake McMullen wrote a message admonishing members that "Boos, catcalls, cheers & outbursts in general should be kept to a minimum." She reiterated that message before today's session, informing audience members that they should "exercise decorum and respect in preparation of your questions."
There were a couple of sharp-edged queries to Lisa Wannemacher, the local architect working on The Lens, as well as the most outspoken supporter of the project, infomercial star Anthony Sullivan — but it was nothing they couldn't handle.
