Amorino Gelato is bringing its world-famous rose shaped scoops to downtown St. Petersburg.

The shop opens at 1246 Central Avenue on Friday. Staff will give away 1,000 free gelato roses at its grand opening celebration on Saturday.

The shop is under the same roof as Bosphorus Turkish Cuisine, which opened earlier this year in the Edge Collective.

Childhood friends and cofounders Cristiano Sereni and Paolo Benassi first opened Amorino in 2002 in the heart of Paris and have since expanded the franchise to more than 200 stores worldwide.

The St. Pete location is its second in Florida. The first opened in  Tampa’s International Plaza in 2022.

Amorino’s signature is its rose-shaped design, with each petal a different scoop of gelato, allowing guests to mix and match. Customers can also add a gelato-filled macaron to top their creation. The shop offers 36 flavors of gelato and sorbet, all made without artificial coloring or flavoring, including 20 organic options, according to the company.

The shop serves classic flavors like vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, and pistachio, with rotating seasonal and limited edition flavors. Amorino also offers dairy-free sorbet options, and a selection of gelato-filled macarons, crepes, waffles, sundaes, milkshakes, and cakes. Hot and cold espresso drinks are also available.
