West Coast trance electronica sensation BT (short for Brian Transeau) is making his way across the country on a tour to promote This Binary Universe, his fifth album and most ambitious project to date. The August release — a two-disc CD/DVD set — reveals BT's classical music background and experience as a composer, his recent Brian Eno-esque forays into film scores and soundscapes evident in an album that features ambient, minimalist electronica, sprawling orchestral arrangements and melodic lullabies. The DVD pairs the seven unique tracks (which are composed in 5.1-channel surround sound) with animations by some of today's finest computer artists and animators, including Scott Pagano and Dose Productions. BT stops in St. Petersburg this Sunday with British electronic music innovator Thomas Dolby (of "She Blinded Me With Science" fame). Both artists will perform against widescreen, high definition film presentations with digital sound mixed in 5.1 live onstage. Sun., Dec. 17, 7:30 p.m., State Theatre, 687 Central Ave., St. Petersburg, $18 in advance/$20 day of, 727-895-3045.
