Tampa Bay officials are not taking the coronavirus pandemic lightly, and local organizers from Amalie Arena officials to DIY concert promoters are following suit by canceling or postponing events across Tampa Bay.

Its manatee viewing center also closed for the season on March 13. - Tampa Bay Lightning, and the entire NHL, have postponed the season amid coronavirus concerns
In a statement released Thursday afternoon, the NHL said “it is no longer appropriate to try to continue to play games at this time.” - Florida public schools have been order to close until March 30 due to coronavirus
On Friday evening, officials ordered public schools across the state of Florida to remain closed until March 30 due to the coronavirus. - The Gasparilla International Film Festival—set for March 17-22—postponed the film festival ancillary events in the interest of public health.
All tickets and passes will be honored at our new date, which will be announced as soon as it becomes available," organizers wrote. "Please check our website for further information." - University of South Florida closes all home sporting events to fans because of coronavirus
The school sent out an official press release Thursday afternoon saying that starting today, USF Athletics will close all home competitions to fans, and only “essential staff and limited family” will be allowed to be in attendance at facilities. - St. Leo—where classed go online starting March 16—suspended all fall and winter sports activities indefinitely, and no fans can attend the school's acrobatics and tumbling home events.
- Tampa's River O’Green and St. Patrick’s Day parade have been cancelled because of coronavirus
The City of Tampa’s St. Patrick’s Day activities—including downtown Tampa’s River O’Green and the St. Patrick’s Day parade, both scheduled for Saturday—have been canceled in the wake of concerns about the spread of novel coronavirus. - Ybor City's Tampa Pride parade is rescheduled for May 30 amid coronavirus concern.
Other official Tampa Pride events are ‘on hold and may be rescheduled.’ - Cigar City Brewing Hunahpu's Day 2020—set for Friday, March 13 at Amalie Arena in downtown Tampa—is canceled due to coronavirus concerns. Two refund options are available.
- Green Bench Brewing’s Foeder for Thought event, set for Saturday, March 14, is canceled
Full refunds should be issued within seven business days, and the tasting room will remain open. - On Friday, March 13, Coppertail Brewing announced the cancellation of its remaining Tampa Bay Beer Week events
Those include Friday's night market, a March 14 metal show and March 15 Brewer's Brunch. The metal show and brunch will be revisited, but emails have been sent to current ticket holders. - St. Pete music festival Reggae Rise Up has been pushed from March 20-22 to the first weekend in October
The new dates are in October, and no refunds will be issued. - The Tampa Bay rays suspended spring training games and delayed the start of the regular season at least two weeks
That means that Opening Day won't happen until mid-April and maybe even May. - The St. Pete Art Alliance has the skinny on the cancellation of the free Second Saturday ArtWalk Trolley and which galleries are staying open on March 14.
- A slew of local museums and cultural hotspots—including The Glazer Children’s Museum, Tampa Museum of Art, Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI), Henry B. Plant Museum and The Florida Aquarium—are closed through Sunday, March 29.
“This was a very difficult decision and we understand our members, guests and supporters might be disappointed, but we believe adhering to the scientific community's recommendation to limit large social gatherings at this time is the right course of action." CEO's from the establishments said in a statement. "We look forward to welcoming our guests back and continuing to provide world-class experiences, amazing exhibits and impactful educational opportunities which makes Tampa’s cultural attractions iconic and beloved.” - The St. Petersburg Museum of History is also closed until Wednesday, April 1.
The museum's business office will remain open Mon.-Sat. from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. to answer any questions, and process memberships and ticket sales to events scheduled for later in the year. Please call our guest relations desk at 727-894-052 ext. 200 for assistance. - The 25-year anniversary of Tampa PhilFest is canceled due to coronavirus
The three-day festival is known for hosting a slew of vendors cooking up traditional Filipino plates, live entertainment and competitions like the children’s Tanghalang Pambata Talent Competition, Tawag ng Tanghalan Singing Competition for adults, and the crowning of Ms. and Mrs PhilFest. - Yuengling Center's Saturday Night Brawl IV fight in Tampa, set for Saturday, March 28, is postponed.
A press release says the "postponement is consistent with USF’s decision to postpone or cancel all university-sponsored events on its campuses for the next 30 days, in light of the continuing concerns about COVID-19 (coronavirus). The reschedule date is to be determined; and more information will follow." - St. Petersburg's. Mahaffey Theater is temporarily closed due to coronavirus concerns.
- The Florida Orchestra has canceled or postponed all concerts through April 5
A release says patrons who have tickets to a canceled event will be issued a TFO gift certificate that can be used anytime and will never expire. - The Rend Collective postponed its March 29 concert at Countryside church in Clearwater until further notice.
- The Alzheimer’s Music Fest at Skipper’s Smokehouse in Tampa has been canceled.
Organizers hope to reassess everything and potentially reschedule in 30 days. No reason was given, and a new date has not been set, but tickets for the show will be honored at the future concert. Skipper's added that, "As of now, all other shows are slated to proceed as planned… and we are open our regularly scheduled hours." - Paul Simon's best sidekick, Art Garfunkel, postponed his March 14 solo show at Clearwater's Bilheimer Cap.Grammy-winning tenor Josh Groban postponed his March 16 Clearwater concert at Ruth Eckerd Hall.
- Field Day, which features members of old-school punk band Dag Nasty, postponed its March 14 concert at The Brass Mug
Promoters are still figuring out if the local openers will play the show. - "When Doves Cry," a Prince tribute concert curated by Tampa Bay community radio station WMNF 88.5-FM is postponed; a new date is yet to be determined.
- Also postponed at Ruth Eckerd Hall: a March 20 concert from '70s hitmaker America and the March 22 date from prog-rock giant Yes.
- The entire PGA Valspar Championship at Innisbrook—including the March 14 country concert from Chris Young—is canceled.
- Martin Lawrence postpones his Tampa show due to coronavirus concerns
Lawrence’s “Lit AF” tour, which features fellow comedians Rickey Smiley, DeRay Davis, Adele Givens and Clayton Thomas, will continue as scheduled at Orlando’s Amway Center tomorrow night. - Chuck Owen’s Jazz Surge Tampa reunion concert canceled amid coronavirus concerns
In a statement on social media, Owen said is, "So incredibly disappointed to share with you that the USF Jazz Alumni Reunion and the Jazz Surge concert Saturday evening have fallen victim to corona virus concerns as USF cancelled all events on campus for the next 30 days. 9 months of work . . . . phphhtt!" - Clearwater's Pier 60 Sugar Sand Festival set for April 10-26 is postponed.
Those who pre-purchased tickets, you will be contacted within the next week to be issued a refund. - The sold-out 35-year anniversary screening of "Pee-wee’s Big Adventure" with Paul Reubens is postponed due to concerns around novel coronavirus.
- Cher and Nile Rodgers' spring concert at Tampa's Amalie Arena has been postponed until September 8.
- Gaslight Anthem's Brian Fallon postponed his March 17 concert at The Ritz Ybor.
- The Suncoast Animal League's annual Mutt Madness and Ride 4 Animals were supposed to happen on March 14 in Dunedin, but they've been postponed.
Get this though: There are still a bunch of good boys and girls that need to be adopted out of shelters, so the league is inviting would-be-dog-parents to its open-air shelter spaces from 12 p.m.-6 p.m. on Saturday. - In another canine cancellations, the Southeastern Guide Dogs Walkathon set for March 21 in St. Pete is off.
- Organizers told CL that the St. Petersburg Listening Room Festival Showcase at Palladium Theater is moved from March 27 to Friday, Nov. 13 for "good luck."
- MacDill Air Force Base's popular Tampa Bay AirFest was supposed to happen on March 28-29, but it's been postponed without a make up date.
- The Rowdies, and the entire MLS, have suspended their season
Major League Soccer is suspending all match play for 30 days, "to assess the impact of COVID-19" with an internal medical task force and public health officials. - A March 27 Ybor City concert featuring Gainesville's Against Me! has been canceled.
Singer Laura Jane Grace tweeted that, "As soon as we have any update on when shows will be rescheduled we will let people know." - Even Record Store Day—which celebrates independent vinyl shops around the country—is postponed until June 20.
- Comedian Howie Mandel has cancelled his March 21 show at Tampa's Seminole Hard Rock.
- DJ Snake has also cancelled his Seminole Hard Rock performance for March 22.
- Kenny Chesney postponed the start of 2020's Chillaxification Tour; a May 9 stop at Tampa's Raymond James Stadium is one of the shows affected.
- Back to back Jannus Live concerts featuring Dance Gavin Dance (March 27) and Circa Survive (March 28) have been postponed with new dates in the works.
- South Tampa's Yard Of Ale postponed its spring training apple smash originally set for March 14.
- St. Petersburg's Museum of Fine Art will stay open and "practice expanded cleaning and disinfecting of common public spaces, high-touch areas and restrooms," but has canceled all events and programs happening through March 31, including the escapeVelocity concert set for March 20.
- All concerts and events at Hooch and Hive in Tampa's West Riverfront are canceled through March.
- The April edition of downtown Tampa's Rock the Park concert series is a no-go.
- Gulfport's Special Abilities Art Exhibit Opening & Fundraiser scheduled for March 21 is canceled until further notice.
- Holocaust educator and author Barbara Bergren was supposed to talk at the Florida Holocaust Museum on Sunday, March 15, but her appearance has been postponed without a new date.
- The Tampa Theatre is going dark through March 31.
All films, concerts, tours, and special events have been suspended. "Theatre management is working diligently with our film distributors, show promotors and rental clients to reschedule as many of the affected dates as possible," the theatre said in a release. "Patrons should hold on to their tickets, which will be valid for new show dates." - Tampa Parks and Recreation Department will be closing all facilities and pools until further notice.
- NCAA March Madness tournaments, including Tampa dates, have been canceled due to coronavirus
In a press statement sent Thursday afternoon, officials with the NCAA said the decision was made “to ensure the events do not contribute to spread of the pandemic.” Of course, this includes the opening round games scheduled to take place on March 19 and 21 at Tampa’s Amalie Arena. - The XFL has canceled the remainder of its season, including Tampa Bay Viper home games
The XFL, in a statement released by their Twitter account, has announced the suspension of regular season games due to the recent coronavirus outbreak. - Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando will close due to coronavirus pandemic
The closures will begin at the close of business on March 15, and remain through the end of the month. - Metal band Birthday Massacre postponed its April 3 concert at Orpheum in Ybor City.
- The Decibel Tour scheduled for The Ritz in Ybor City on March 31 is canceled.
The lineup included Mayhem, Abbath and more, and refunds are available at point of purchase. - The Tarpon Springs Fine Arts Festival, set for this weekend, is postponed, and may be canceled.
- The 15 annual Taste of South Tampa, set for March 22, is rescheduled for fall 2020.
- Tampa Straz Center suspends all events through April 19 because of coronavirus concern
On Friday morning, The Straz Center for the Performing Arts announced the suspension of all events through April 19. - The St. Petersburg Firestone Grand Prix is completely cancelled.
"After careful consideration, including regular communication with our event promoters, health officials, and the city administrations in our respective race markets regarding COVID-19, we have made the decision to cancel all NTT INDYCAR Series events through April." - SeaWorld Orlando will close following concerns over coronavirus
SeaWorld ended hours of speculation on Friday, finally announcing their Orlando park will be closing on Monday, March 15, a full day after Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando plan to close. - Busch Gardens Tampa Bay will temporarily close due to coronavirus
In a statement released Friday afternoon, Busch Gardens Tampa Bay said it will close on Monday, March 16. The closure will last through the end of the month. - The 10th annual Dunedin Seafood Festival has canceled its event for later this month
Organizers say they may hold the event at a later date on a smaller scale.
- Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa suspends entertainment until mid-April
Hard Rock Event Center shows that are affected include Gary Allen (originally scheduled for March 19 and rescheduled for August 27), Howie Mandel (originally scheduled for March 21 and rescheduled for November 20), Rodney Carrington (originally scheduled for April 2 with a new date to be determined) and Mike Tyson Undisputed Truth Round 2 (originally scheduled for April 3 with a new date to be determined.) Pool parties postponed include Duke Dumont (originally scheduled for March 15 with a new date to be determined), DJ Snake (originally scheduled for March 22 and rescheduled for August 2), Smoke by the Water (originally scheduled for March 29 with a new date to be determined) and Hogan’s Beach Party (originally scheduled for April 6 with a new date to be determined.) - WUSF's Longest Table event set for April 16 is postponed. Guests who purchased tickets to the gala can expect an automatic refund from the ticketing system.
- Studio @620 in St. Pete has postponed all shows and exhibitions until May 1
- Florida State Parks cancel all events and reservations for next 60 days
Florida parks will open during set daytime hours for the next two months, with campground and overnight accommodations closed completely starting Friday, the Department of Environmental Protection announced Tuesday.
