The Arts Center opens Glorious Glass: Translucent and Opaque, a glittering glass extravaganza and follow-up to last year’s Behind Glass: Creativity and Collaboration. Both exhibits, masterminded by Seattle curator Margery Aronson, showcase cutting-edge techniques in studio glass art and emphasize the medium’s predisposition toward teamwork. Check out works by Dale Chihuly, Lino Tagliapietra, Sonja Blomdahl, Joey Kirkpatrick and Flora Mace, Jenny Pohlman and Sabrina Knowles, WD40+ (Dick Weiss and Walter Lieberman) — and Tampa’s own Duncan McClellan. Like its precursor, Glorious Glass offers a tantalizing preview of the center’s future focus on glass as it moves toward opening The Chihuly Collection and a glass blowing hot shop in 2010. Glorious Glass: Translucent and Opaque is on display Nov. 14-Dec. 24, with an opening reception from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Fri., Nov. 14, 719 Central Ave., St. Petersburg, 727-822-7872.
