There are many reasons to buy a boat, and perhaps the simplest and most satisfying one is for the purpose of getting away from everyone — or at least everyone who doesn’t have a boat. The big sandbar northwest of Fort De Soto that grows and shrinks with the tides is rarely totally deserted, but it’s also rarely jammed up like Seventh Avenue on a Saturday night, either, and you can usually stake out a little space on your own to just sit in the sun and listen to some tunes, or otherwise indulge in as much or as little socializing as you see fit.
