All year, Ian and Todd Lynne and their Cephia's Treat Records crew kept the fringe-music scene fresh by putting experimental bands in experimental venues that weren't venues at all, really. An unfinished department-store construction site. A slab of concrete in a Sulphur Springs park of no discernible other purpose. A string of HARTLine bus stops. A storage-facility unit. Touring acts from all over the Southeast participated, as did a dozen or so local noise-rock mainstays and the odd performance artist or two, and together they built their own scene for young music fans who'd rather pay attention to the bands than hold down the bar or fork over extortion-level prices for bottled water. And they're not done yet, either; more F.A.D. plans are in the works, including a day of bum rushing shopping-center food courts. Finally, a good reason to go to the mall.
