Tampa Bay indie rock outfit Win Win Winter became a force on the local scene last year with a pair of well-received EPs and emotive, high-polish live shows at places like New World Brewery and Tampa Theatre, where the quintet opened for Dresden Dolls. The band is defined by singer/guitarist Tommy Simms’ naked vocals and earnest lyrics. Sonically, Win Win Winter is all over the place, often in the same song, making disparate instruments like synths and lap steel work together.
