Celebrating the greatness and diversity of the continent and calling attention to its issues via free and informative lectures, Eckerd College helped bring us the UN refugee exhibit Invisible in the City: The Lives of Urban Refugees at The Studio@620; Rev. Desmond Tutu’s daughter Mpho Tutu; and Dave Eggers, the author of the bestseller What Is the What: The Autobiography of Valentino Achak Deng, who gave a lecture at the college’s McArthur Gymnasium with Sudanese war survivor Deng.
