While construction continues to snarl traffic around the airport — can the work possibly be complete in time for the Super Bowl? — the first of several new overpasses has finally opened. Leading traffic out of the airport and toward I-275, the new overpass has a surprising fringe benefit: the view. Look left and you’ll see the Westshore district dominate the foreground as downtown Tampa looms large behind. Look right and it’s a great view of the Bay. Just be sure to take at least a cursory peek at the roadway, as it declines rapidly and banks hard right, scaring the bejeezus out of enamored scenery-gazers. Safety first and all that.
