In 2012, we gave former Hillsborough County Commissioner/State Senator Jim Norman a BOTB nod for best retirement, an honor he shared with former Hillsborough Commissioner Kevin White (you know — the Pimpin’ Commish). Both were jettisoned from local politics in disgrace. Norman’s offense? Failing to disclose on campaign documents a lil’ gift a moneyed developer gave his wife (said gift being a huge house in Arkansas). But now Norman, a far-right Republican, is back, and he’s running in a GOP primary for the commission’s countywide District 6 seat. If he wins the seat, expect him to wonder aloud why Hillsborough’s depressing exurban sprawl has slowed down so much, where the Confederate flag went, and who let The Gays take over.
