Bubba the Love Sponge’s recent appearances in headlines have dealt with the disgraced DJ’s financial woes and inability to land a deal with WHBO-AM 1040, but Mr. Sponge is back on the air as of Monday.
The voice of the 53-year-old can be experienced on three Tampa Bay stations: 98.3 FM and 96.7 FM, which can be heard in Pinellas and Hillsborough, respectively, plus AM 820, which can be heard all over the Bay area.
Sponge, whose real name is Todd Clem, is also sending his voice to Orlando care of 105.5 FM and 660 AM, which have both rebranded as “Florida Man Radio” (man, that’s almost as bad as “no rap crap” station Boss Hogg).
As I said before, Bubba’s kid was one of the kindest young gents I ever served when I worked in restaurants, but I know the rest of Tampa Bay’s radio listeners are taking this news and cautiously saying, “Welcome back, asshole.”
