Bob Buckhorn had little to add on Wednesday to Hillsborough County Commissioner Ken Hagan's comment that he intends to ask county attorneys if Hillsborough can engage in direct talks with the Tampa Bay Rays regarding their future plans for a new ballpark in the region.
"Ultimately that contact is between the city of St. Petersburg and the Rays," Buckhorn said. "That's got to be resolved before any discussions can take place."
The Tampa Bay Times reported on Wednesday that Hagan said, "Frankly, threats of lawsuits from St. Pete have had a chilling effect on dialogue" about the Rays' future.
